Staff Modeling

Often, churches have had the same staff model through many years and changes in the life of the church. Consider, Old First Church with a declining membership who has the same staff configuration it had at the hight of its vitality. Once a congregation of 2000 with a vibrant global witness, now an inner-city congregation with 200 members. A Senior Pastor, Head of staff, global missions pastor, youth pastor, and children's pastor make up the staff but there are few children, less youth, and virtually no global mission presence. Focused on their neighborhood with issues of food scarcity, poverty, and neighborhood violence, not one staff person is dedicated to this ministry. For the vitality to return, there needs to be a staff and resources realignment. Staff modeling helps the church assess the alignment of staff resources and gifts with its current missional call.
